James Cox the founder of Painting NoCo has the goal of elevating the craft of painting to an art form, combining meticulous attention to detail with a deep understanding of the science behind paint application. His approach to painting is both innovative and rooted in tradition, a blend that allows for consistently high-quality results. James’ journey into the world of professional painting began with a passion for aesthetics and a desire to bring beauty into people’s lives. However, he quickly realized that exceptional painting is not just about aesthetics; it’s about durability, precision, and the science of materials. This realization led him to delve into the chemistry of paints, the physics of color, and the environmental factors that affect paint application and longevity. At Painting NoCo, James emphasizes the importance of surface preparation, a critical but often overlooked step in the painting process. He knows that the longevity and finish of the paint are heavily dependent on the preparation of the surface it’s applied to. This includes thorough cleaning, sanding, and priming, ensuring that each layer of paint adheres properly and lasts longer.

We typically recommend “The higher the traffic, the higher the sheen”. We usually recommend a satin for exteriors and for most interior projects.
We like to start early (6:30-7) on most projects and tend to work until 5-5:30. When you’re on a roll (pun intended) it can be more efficient to keep going than to interrupt the project with cleanup and additional setup time. If our hours are a concern, we can adjust them to fit your lifestyle.
